Zygmunt Bauman

Zygmunt Bauman is a sociologist and philosopher and a professor at the University of Leeds, whose work focuses notably on the effects of globalization. His most recent book is Consuming Life (Polity, 2007; French translation S'acheter une vie, Chambon, 2008); some ten of his books have appeared in French translation. This text is drawn from a lecture delivered in June 2008 at the Institute for Jewish Policy Research in London.
