Nicole Eizner (died 2006)

A French sociologist, research director at the CNRS and a specialist in rural and agricultural questions. With Marcel Jollivet she co-edited L'Europe et ses campagnes (Europe and Its Countryside; Presses de Sciences Po, 1996), and she published Les paradoxes de l'agriculture française (The Paradoxes of French Agriculture; 1985) and Voyage en alimentation (A Journey Through Food; 1995). Raised in a Parisian Jewish family, she was also engaged with secular Jewish culture and the anti-colonial cause.
