Henry Méchoulan

An emeritus research director at the CNRS and a doctor of the University of Salamanca, Henry Méchoulan is a specialist on the Hispano-Portuguese Jews of the early modern period and on Spinoza. A corresponding member of the Real Academia de Ciencias Morales y Políticas (Madrid), he has published, among other works, Hispanidad y Judaísmo en tiempos de Espinoza (1987), Amsterdam au temps de Spinoza. Argent et liberté (Amsterdam in Spinoza's Time: Money and Freedom, PUF, 1991), Être juif à Amsterdam au temps de Spinoza (Being Jewish in Amsterdam in Spinoza's Time, Albin Michel, 1991), Les Juifs du silence au Siècle d'or espagnol (The Jews of Silence in the Spanish Golden Age, Albin Michel, 2003) and Spinoza démasqué (Spinoza Unmasked, Cerf, 2022).
